Knight Guardian
The Knight is a powerful warrior for his kingdom, rising to the challenge of his station and serving his king and country with undying loyalty. However, even amongst the ranks of knights, there are legends told of those that have become an even greater champion of their cause, learning the secrets of the Vital Defense, and through it, mastering the art of standing firm in the face of danger, unwavering and unflinching even against the mightiest of foes. These few are known as the Knight Guardians, who stand as sentinels against whatever enemy dares challenge them in battle. Hit Die: d12. Pre-requisites: Base Attack Bonus: +5 Class Skills |

Class Features: At each level, you gain class features as if you had also gained a level in your knight class. You gain all the knight special class features you would have gained this level, and your class levels in Knight Guardian stack with your Knight levels for determining the DC and uses of your knight abilities. You do not, however, gain the benefit of the knight's attack progression or saving throws.
Vital Defense (Ex): Beginning at 1st level, a Knight Guardian knows how to use his strengths to compensate for his weaknesses. He adds his Constitution bonus to AC instead of his Dexterity, if the character’s Constitution bonus is higher. Any situation that would normally deny a Dexterity bonus to AC or otherwise restrict it, such as the Maximum Dexterity bonus on armor or being flatfooted, still applies.
Toughness: At 2nd level, the Knight Guardian gains Toughness as a bonus feat. If you already have this feat, you may select another one.
Uncanny Dodge (Ex): Starting at 3rd level, a Knight Guardian gains the ability to react to danger before his senses would normally allow him to do so. He retains his Dexterity bonus (if any, or his Constitution bonus, if it’s higher) to AC even if he is caught flat-footed or struck by an invisible attacker. However, he still loses his Dexterity (or Constitution) bonus to AC if immobilized. If a character gains uncanny dodge from a different class (a Knight Guardian with at least four levels of rogue, for example), he automatically gains improved uncanny dodge instead.
More Toughness: Starting at 4th level, you begin to gain more advanced toughness as bonus feats. At 4th, you gain Dwarf's Toughness as a bonus feat, granting you +6 hit points. At 6th, you gain Giant's Toughness, granting you +9 hit points, and at 8th, you gain Dragon's Toughness, granting you +12 hit points.
Superior Defense (Ex): At 5th level, you gain a new insight in how to make the most of your movements while wearing restrictive armor. The maximum Dexterity bonus for any medium or heavy armor you wear (including mithral versions) is increased by 1. For example, full plate armor normally has a maximum Dexterity bonus of +1, but the superior defense ability increases this to +2. At 7th level, you improve the maximum Dexterity bonus of medium or heavy armor by 2 and at 9th level by 3.
Knight's Toughness (Ex): At 10th level, a Knight Guardian becomes a true master of physical toughness. You gain +20 hit points. In addition, 5 times per day as a free action, you can choose to gain a bonus to either your AC, your CMD or a single save equal to the number of Toughness Feats you have until the end of your next turn. Knight's Toughness does not qualify as a Toughness Feat for the purpose of this ability.
Selfless Guard (Ex): At 10th level, you gain the ability to sense an ally is in mortal danger and come to his aid. Whenever an adjacent ally fails a saving throw, you can choose to sacrifice yourself for his benefit. As an immediate action, you may roll your own saving throw, adding half your result (rounded up) to the result of your ally's failed roll. If this new result beats the original DC, your ally is treated as having successfully saved. If the roll still fails, he is affected as normal. Regardless of the result of the roll, you become an additional target of the spell or effect in question by using this ability. You may roll a separate saving throw for yourself as normal. You cannot use this ability if both you and your ally are already targets of the same effect.
